WoW Upgrades - The Item Upgrader
Upgrades give you boosts in certain statistics. Each upgrade increases the level of the item by +3. item upgrading is also added to every upgrade.
The upgraded gear typically has a greater value for trade regardless of whether it has low requirements (like the FB sorc's shield) or a very high stat variation (like eth titan weapons). Upgrades are less important for the latter due to the requirement to roll the perfect version.
Recycle Points
The item upgrader allows players to upgrade their gear by offering the currency to an NPC. Upgrades can be applied to any kind of armor or weapon. The item used to upgrade the item is discarded and cannot be used again. Upgrades can also be applied to the enchantments.
The upgrader can be found in all major cities and can be accessed anytime to upgrade your equipment. It is recommended that you visit the upgrader at least once every couple of weeks to keep your equipment up-to-date.
The cost of upgrades will be based on the current item level of the item being upgraded however, they will always be cheaper than purchasing new gear from other sources. For example, upgrading a Benthic chest to 385 levels will cost 20 recycle points, while buying a similar item from a different player will cost 105.
Valorstones
Upgrades are items that can be used to upgrade tools, armor, weapon and accessory upgrades. They can be purchased by players through NPCs who sell upgrades for items in exchange for a variety of currencies, and can be found in random treasure lists. Once an upgrade is purchased, it can be used on any weapon or tool using a The button will display a preview of an item's next upgrade level, if there are enough materials.
The cost of upgrading varies based on the slot for the item and the current item level. For example weapons are more expensive than gloves, bracers, or bracers. Each upgrade cost 15 Flightstones and a few crests, with certain upgrades having a discount to lower the cost of the Flightstones or crests used. Once an item has been upgraded to a certain degree, it can be downgraded and sold to the upgrader at a lower cost.
Upgraders for items can be found in a variety of locations on the main island as well as some outposts. The NPCs provide both an upgrade coupon and the possibility of obtaining an entirely new recipe. The upgrade discount increases as more items are upgraded. It can also be increased by having players complete certain achievements or quests.
In contrast to Cromwell in Baldur's Gate II is no item upgrader available in the beginning of Icewind Dale. Instead the NPCs that can be used to upgrade must be acquired through several methods which is both an improvement and a drawback.
In Season 3, a number of new features were added to the upgrade system. After an upgrade has been completed to a certain level of item for an armor slot, upgrading other items to the same level will cost less. This applies regardless of whether the items are from an entirely different set of equipment.
The discount applies to all accounts. The amount of Harbinger Crests required to upgrade is cut too, but it is only available when certain milestones have been reached.
Crests
Players have several options when it comes to upgrading their gear in WoW. Flightstones are a currency that is available to everyone for upgrading. Crests are more specialized and are utilized during specific level upgrades for items. Crests are a key element of the Dragonflight gear progression system introduced in 10.1 and are available in four ranks.
First, you must be aware that the crests can only be purchased for equipment with a certain rank. Each rank comes with distinct upgrade paths. The most basic and straightforward upgrade process costs just 15 crests while the most complex requires as many as 20 crests depending on the type of equipment that is being upgraded.
Players can earn crests by finishing content at the appropriate level, which means walking around and doing outdoor activities for lower-tier gear, dungeons or raids of all difficulty for items of higher tier or Mythic+ dungeons or heroic raid bosses for endgame gear. These crests can then be exchanged at an item upgrader NPC like Cuzolth in Dornogal, or Vaskarn in Valdrakken, for the appropriate upgrade routes and steps.
Using these new currencies isn't that difficult, but the system introduces some modifications to the upgrade process. For instance, when an item is at the highest level of upgrading for any rank (Explorer, Adventurer, Veteran, Champion, Hero, or Mythic) it won't require Flightstones to be upgraded. This allows players to upgrade their gear to the highest possible ilvl for all their characters instead of relying on seasonal loot.
It's also important to use crests wisely, as they are only used for one purpose. It's best to put your Whelpling-rank Crests on the best gear that you can find and keep Drake and Wyrm Crests for the next set of upgrades. This is especially relevant for items like rings and trinkets that occupy several slots. The discount on the account is only applicable when all slots on the character are filled with top-quality gear.
